Hi everyone! 👋
After weeks of planning, shooting, and editing, I’ve finally completed my Level 3 project: Reflections. This audio-visual project was designed to explore the theme of reflections—both literally and metaphorically—in a way that felt meaningful to me. The images I created were then combined with sound during editing to form the final production.
What Didn’t Go to Plan ❌
The Second Photoshoot: The plan was to contrast the struggles of mental health with the uplifting effects of nature and human connection. However, due to timing and unpredictable weather, the second shoot didn’t happen.
What Went Right ✅
A Strong First Shoot: The first photoshoot came together well, effectively capturing emotions of isolation and struggle. The indoor setting, use of mirrors, and careful lighting reinforced the mental health themes I wanted to explore.
Adapting the Project to Maintain a Narrative: While the second shoot didn’t happen, I was still able to create a cohesive final piece by restructuring the audio and video to fit what I had.
The Final Production: By using a mix of sound design (separately recorded audio) and sequencing, I was able to bring part of the story to life. The combination of visuals and sound effects enhanced the emotional depth of the project.
What I Learned from This Project
This project taught me the value of patience and careful planning. Taking things one step at a time and allowing space for adjustments is crucial. But most importantly, I learned that even when things don’t go as planned, it’s not the end—projects can be adapted, and meaningful work can still be created.
The video is below and I would love to hear your thoughts! Let me know what you think. 😊
